Isaignani, who is well aware of the problems producers face nowadays, has a good reason for choosing to market a film. He strongly believes that today’s films don’t depend on stars for a good run, but are successful mainly because of the script and the performers.
The movie Sengatthu Bhoomiyile is no different. Directed by Ratnakumar, who has given inspiring scripts like Kizhakku Cheemayile, Karutthamma, Kadal Pookkal in the past, reportedly the alluring story of Sengatthu… has fascinated the maestro, say sources.
Ask Ratnakumar why Ilayaraja turned producer and he replies in thrilled tones, “When I started the project with producer Duraimurugan, I went and narrated the script to Ilayaraja sir. After hearing me patiently he said, ‘finish at least 10 days of shooting and come and show me the visuals. If it appeals to me, I will compose for the movie.’ I promptly did that. He was appreciative of our work and gladly agreed to score the music.”
However, when the director completed the entire film and screened it for the maestro for rerecording, he was flabbergasted by the outcome. “I want to inject life into this flesh-and-blood story (Sengatthu …). It’s so gripping and realistic that I want to release the movie worldwide,” remarked the composer.
The film, which will be released through his newly-formed banner Swami Cine Arts, has Pawan, Senthil, Sonulakshmi, Priyanka and Singam Puli as the main cast and a hundred newcomers from Theni district being introduced in various character roles.
