'Kanchana' is going places, literally. Rama Narayanan, who produced the Lawrence Raghavendra film in Tamil, is planning to remake it in Kannada. The veteran has confirmed that plans are also on to start the Hindi version of the eerie-comedy thriller soon.
"I had directed as many as 15 films in Kannada so far. Hence I have decided to produce and direct Kanchana in Sandalwood. Upendra is playing the lead role, while Lakshmi Rai is repeating what she did in Tamil," says the former president of Tamil Film Producers Council.
Uma Shree has been roped in to play Kovai Sarala's role, while Devadharshini will be replaced by Shruthi. It is said that the transgender character played by Sarath Kumar in the Tamil original will be done in Kannada by a popular actor there.
"Kanchana is a great success in both Tamil and Telugu. So Rama Narayanan wants to continue the success journey in other languages too. He will play a crucial role in the movie's Hindi remake also," sources say. Besides playing the lead role, Lawrence Raghavendra wielded the megaphone for the Tamil version.
