Performances

Vettai marks good comeback for Madhavan in Tamil. He has given his best in Gurumurthy role with funny shades in the first half and his transformation to high action in the second half brings roaring applauses.

Arya is apt for the role. His fights, comic timing, scenes are a treat to watch. Arya and Madhavan got equal footage but the former got more action scenes.

Vettai is Sameera Reddy’s best role after Vaaranam Aayiram and all credits to her performance. Also Chinmayee’s dubbing suited well brings a fiery look to her role. Amala Paul is cute and has delivered her best.

Raju Sundaram, who appeared in cameo is best in his role. Ashutosh Rana was best playing the main villain, torturing the people of Tuticorin, while Nassar and Thambi Ramaiah did their roles as demanded by the character, but could be given a length.

Technical Analysis

Virav Sha’s cinematography is good while Anthony’s editing is racy and Rajeevan’s art work is apt. Action sequences are good, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s songs are peppy and background score is too good. Arya, and Madhavan’s costumes are cool but is mediocre with Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul who sported traditional wear. Dialogues are hilarious and upbeat.

Analysis

Vettai has a normal story of two brothers where we have seen earlier in many films, but what works for Vettai is its engaging and racy screenplay besides the good performances. Madhavan has made a good come back with Vettai. Sameera reddy was utilized best whereas Amala Paul was been a glamour beside Arya, who has given enough importance for action sequences. Vettai is right mix of action, comedy, romance and sentiments. Despite high voltage action sequences, Lingusamy gave ample importance to humor and romance too.

Final Verdict

Vettai is good watch for this Pongal season
