Shraddha plays a sex worker in her upcoming film

After B-town films like “Lahore and Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji”, sexy starlet Shraddha Das has hit the jackpot by landing the lead role in Prakash Jha’s female-centric film, India Shining. The actress, who is known for her glam doll image with skimpy outfits and bikinis in Tollywood, is now determined to prove her acting skills in the role of a sex worker. “India Shining is the tale of a school girl who is forced into prostitution and how she fights back against the system, by even stepping into politics to save sex workers from exploitation,” reveals a friend of the actress. The hard-core saga will be directed by first-timer Vijay Mandal, erstwhile assistant to Jha. As part of a 15-day workshop, Shraddha will visit a few red light areas in Mumbai, including Kamathipura. She will observe the lifestyles of sex workers and try to assimilate their mannerisms, body language and attitudes into her character, “to breathe life into the author-backed role,” explain the friend. Although Shraddha plays a sex worker in the film, the skin show will be limited.“Of course, there will be many cuss words but no blatant skin show, and it will be done tastefully,” says the source. With just one Telugu film, Rey, on hand at the moment, the actress seems to be focusing on Hindi films and may shortly reveal two more B-town offers. Her career, as the title of Jha’s film suggests, is probably “shining” after a long gap.
