Birthday wishes to Prakash Raj

Prakash Rai, better known as Prakash Raj was born on 26th March 1965, in Puttur in Karnataka. He studied in St Joseph Indian High School in Bangalore; he later did his college from Joseph’s college of Commerce, Bangalore, where he used to participate in many Plays. His carrer starts with acting in Doordarshan Kendra serials in Karnataka and he did some supporting roles in Kannada movies before he debuted in Tamil films with the legendary director K.Balachander. Director K.Balachander rechristened him as Prakash Raj for debut Tamil Movie ‘Duet’, later on, he did many movies. The Telugu movie ‘Okkadu’ really pulled him all the strings and then he never looked back, he later went on to act in Hindi movies also, he was awarded best Actor for his negative role for the movie ‘Singham’, he also got many National Awards earlier for Tamil movies. He even won National award as a Best actor for the movie ‘Kanjeevaram’ in Tamil directed by Priyadarshan for the year 2008. In 1998 he won National award as a Best Supporting actor for the film “Iruvar/Iddaru” in the direction of maverick director Manirathnam. He was awarded a Special Jury Award in the National awards for the film ‘Anthahpuram’ Telugu in the year 1999 and another special jury award in National awards for the films ‘Dhaya”, Tamil and ‘Khadgam’, Telugu for the year 2003.He then started his Production House named it after his first movie ‘Duet Films’, under this banner he produced many movies which were very good movies until now. He then ventured in as a Director, he made his first movie in Kannada in 2012, later on recently he made another movie titled’ Dhoni’ in his direction which was released in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Before that he directed one Kannada film “Naanu Naanna Kanasu” which is a re-make of his Tamil hit film ‘Abhiyum Naanum”. He got married to Choreographer Pony Varma in August 2010, after divorcing his earlier wife Lalitha Kumari, with whom he has two daughters Meghna and Pooja, he also had a son named Sidhu who died after he had a fatal fall from a high rise building while flying Kite in Chennai.  At present he is doing Dil Raju’s multistarrer film ‘SVSC”, Telugu.
