Known affectionately as the ‘Markandeyan of Tamil cinema’, Siva Kumar celebrates his birthday today, October 27th, 2012. The star’s foray into Tamil cinema was with Kaakkum Karangal in 1965 and since then he has starred in a number of films which won him accolades, honors and awards.

Siva Kumar won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor twice for his roles in Agni Sakshi and Avan Aval Adhu and the FilmFare Award for Best Actor twice for Rosaappo Ravikkaikaari and Vandichakkaram. In 2007, the star was honored with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.

The star immortalized the roles he played in films like Annakili, Agni Sakshi, and Sindhu Bhairavi which earned him an indomitable place in the film industry. He is, in fact, one of the few stars to have co-starred with almost all the leading stars in Kollywood right from M. G.
