The sensational break-up comes just six weeks after they announced their engagement. But it's legit. They've worked out the details of their separation.
Gavin has told friends it is over and is expected to move out of their £1.2 million home in Wales while singer Charlotte stays there with their children.
A source revealed that Gavin is expected to find a new place nearby so he can visit regularly. No third party is believed to be involved in the breakup.
Last night an insider said: "It is an incredibly sad state of affairs."
"Both Gavin and Charlotte are deeply distraught. But after a lot of soul-searching, they realized this is the best course of action for them and the children. It was a mutual decision, even if to the outside world they were a golden couple."
"Truth is, they had the same insecurities as anyone else. Charlotte is very headstrong. In the end, Gav found it all to be too much. He was blaming her for his rugby career stalling. She hated him going out drinking with mates."
That'll do it every time.
The relationship reached the breaking point when Gavin flew to Norway in March to film celebrity reality show 71 Degrees North. Charlotte was preparing her comeback as a judge on BBC1's Over the Rainbow, and "really needed him at home."
Men. Can't live with 'em ... pass the cosmos. In other UK news, Cheryl Cole was just named the World's Sexiest Woman. Don't get any ideas, Gavin.
