Actor-turned Telangana Rashtra Samiti politician and MP from Medak constituency Vijayashanthi was arrested today by the Hyderabad police for allegedly making seditious speeches on June 30 ahead of the July 27 by elections to 12 assembly seats in Telangana.Vijayashanthi went into hiding after a case was filed against her for making provoking statements. The Medak MP was booked for promoting animosity and hatred among people on Friday.
Tension prevailed at her house when the Banjara Hills police came to arrest her and TRS workers raised slogans against the police.
In her alleged 'hate speech’, Vijayashanti had allegedly said that chop off the hands of those who oppose the formation of the separate state of Telangana.
She has been charged under section 53-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth and residence) and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, ill-will or hatred between classes).
