Easan has Samuthirakani in the lead as a police officer

After months of speculation and rumours, director Sasikumar has finally given a title to his film with newcomers as Easan.

At a press conference yesterday afternoon Sasikumar said: "I wanted to put the title after completing the film. I think Easan is an apt title, you will realize it once you watch the film."

Easan has Samuthirakani in the lead as a police officer, Vaibhav as a student and AL Alagappan (father of director AL Vijay) in an important role.

Abinaya (Nadodigal fame) will play the heroine along with newcomers like Aparna, Thulasi, Namo Narayanan and others. James Vasanthan is the music director, while Kathir is the cinematographer.

Sasikumar said: "At the moment I can't slot Easan as a thriller or a love story. I do not want to give away even the one line of the story. However I can say it is an urban film set in Chennai which will showcase the posh upmarket society and at the same time also focus on life in Chennai slums. It will show urban life during day and night."

The film has five songs. Music director James Vasanthan has created fusion music consisting of folk, western and melodies.

The audio launch will be held in November and the release will be in December.
