Multi talented Sasikumar is back with his directorial venture ‘Easan’ after offbeat film ‘Subramaniapuram’. In the initial stages Sasi Kumar and Vikram has started the film but due to some differences, the film was taken over by the director himself. The film was haunted with many speculations but it is finally hitting the screens with lots of expectations.

Interestingly the film doesn’t have hero or heroines and is based on the night life in Chennai. Sasikumar is coming up with 15 characters by giving equal importance to all the roles.

Easan Story:

Well while moving into the story let me make you clear that the film will no where brings the feeling of ‘Subramaniapuram’ as this film belongs to different genre. The film portrays the City life of Chennai and how the people reaching Chennai from small places are getting influenced by the bad activities.

Chezhian (Vaibhav) belongs to a high class family and portrays the role of a spoiled son of a fraudulent political leader Deva Nayagam (A.L. Azhagappan). Chezhian with his political background rescues his friends who are the main accuses of a girl’s death. He is a regular party goer and enjoys his life ultimately. On a sudden incident he falls in love with Reshma (Aparna), who is the daughter of Shivaraj Hegde a rich business man in Bangalore. Deva Nayagam thinks in terms of business and agrees to the marriage. When everything seems to be positive, Chezhian is attacked by an unknown person and he goes missing. ACP Sangayya (Samuthirakkani) takes charge of the case regarding his disappearance. What happens next? Who is the mysterious person? Why Chezhian goes missing? Will part the rest of the film with an interesting twist, which leads to an unexpected climax.

Highlights:

Vaibhav and his friends lived up to the expectations of the characters.

Aparna debuted with this film but gave an okay performance, while Abhinaya’s role is striking as a village girl.

Samuthirakkani performance is stunning as a cop, and his role in the film is completely opposite to ‘Subramaniapuram’. All praises goes to his performance and Sasikumar has brought in the exact features of a cop.

Producer A.L. Azhagappan is okay with his acting skills

Shivaraj Hegde did well as Vijay Malaya and it is perfect.

Sasikumar has showed the variations between the rich and middle class families. His attempt to give a different genre is good and he succeeded to a major level.

James Vasanthan music is not that striking.

Cinematographer Kathir has picturized the Chennai city life and the village life in two typical styles. This is the big highlight in the film.

On a whole the film is like a documentary drama, with commercial aspects. The length of the film needs an immediate trimming and the violence in the climax is not that good.

Bottom Line: A different genre film, can be watched once
