Speculation and chaos ensued when actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name went missing from the guest list of Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa’s World Kannada Meet slated to kickstart in Belgaum from March 11.
The actress, who belongs to the Bunt community, however, confirms that she’s been invited and will be attending it too.
The meet has already met with a few protests because business honcho Narayana Murthy was apparently inaugurating it.
According to earlier reports, the final invitee list from CM’s office for the inaugural ceremony of the meet showed that Aishwarya was not a part of the list.
Sources close to the Karnataka CM’s office claimed that Ash has not been included in the list because apparently “she would steal the limelight” away from the rest of the guests.
Incidentally, the Karnataka CM had earlier himself indicated that Ash would be a part of the invitee list in the government backed event.
“We have decided not to include the Bollywood star in the opening ceremony as it is likely to give undue importance to one individual than the event,” a member of the organising committee reportedly told the media.
Now it is learned that Aishwarya has not only received a personal invite from Yeddyurappa, but she will also be attending it.
“She has received an invite for the event and she will be attending it,” says a spokesperson for Ash. The actress couldn’t get back to the CM’s office earlier because she was attending the Oscars at Los Angeles with hubby Abhishek.
“She has received an invitation from the (Karnataka) CM’s office. But Aishwarya has just come back from Los Angeles. Since she was away, she couldn’t give a confirmation regarding her attending the event,” the spokesperson adds.
