Velayutham Movie Music Review Online

Songs of Velayutham. In a way his fans have been eagerly waiting for this occasion only after Kavalan. The curtain for the audio launch was raised yesterday on a grand function held in Madurai. Of course, the composer Vijay Anthony has strove much to prove his mettle for the star movie. And it is highly appreciable for him with the grand tunes for the early movie, Vettaikkaran.
Once Vijay Anthony sensed the taste and expectations of Vijay it is no wonder that this album is pertinent to the core. Directed by Jeyam Raja for Aascar Movies the cast includes Genelia, Hansika, Saranya and now the time has come to analyse the performance of the playback singers as the songs will boost the mercury of the movie. Here’s the review of this album which has the proportionate number of peppy songs, fancy songs and item songs.

Ratthathin Rathame
Playback: Haricharan, Madhumitha
Lyricist: Annamalai
The song is a precursor for Vijay’s motif to enter into the politics. The term is the charming one from the Puratchi Thalaivar MGR to his fans and the later partymen. Now Vijay is understood to have the thought of gaining momentum through this powerful phrase. The new lyricist Annamalai is quite adept in choosing the diction for the song and he has done justice to the tune set by Vijay Anthony. The voice choice of Madhumitha and Haricharan is well balanced for this speed song and the instruments caliberate the fans’ spirits. A good opening to the album as well as the film.
Molachhu Moonu
Playback: Prasanna, Supriya Joshi
Lyricist: Vivega
The composer is said to have amalgamated the elements of folk touch with the varied instruments. It is really a novel attempt from Anthony and the voices of Prasanna, Supriya Joshi fuel the fire in the tune. When we listen this song there is no reference for any early song from Vijay or Anthony. The lyrics from Vivega are quite simple and elegant only to elevate the stardom of Ilayathalapathy. We cannot discard the mild flow of the song.
Chillax
Playback: Karthik, Charulatha Mani
Lyricist: Annamalai
If Dole Dole is quite alluring to the dancing moments of the fans in Pokkiri then this song from Velayutham is sure to set a new trend for them. Vijay Anthony has identified this tune for creating a sense of party mood. The song is faster than the one in Kuruvi, Pallanathu and the lyrics are new from Annamalai and the tune makes us tap our foot instantly and instinctively. The voices of Karthik and Charulatha Mani are immense with energy and in particular Karthik whose modulation is too pitchy. The instrumentation is aided by too much of guitars and powerful drums which enhance the mood. Perhaps the visuals in the movie may take this song to the desired effect.
Maayam Seidhayo
Playback: Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyricist: Vivega
A dedication to the romantic mood of the song and the vibrant voice of the new comer Sangeetha Rajeshwaran along with the chorus is ideally composed by Vijay Anthony. He has clubbed the western guitars to suit the native touch and the tune is highly caliberated for intensifying the melody. The real love is best exposed from the lyrics of Vivega and the choice of diction needs to be appreciated. For quite some weeks, this song may rule the FM channels and may win the hearts of young lovers.
Sonna Puriyathu
Playback: Vijay Anthony, Veera Shankar
Lyricist: Siva Shanmugham
The speed song to portray the hero to the peak and Vijay Anthony has created this special tune. The voices are from the composer and Veera Shankar as the lyrics too are compact with senses and spirits. The new comer Siva Shanmugam is to be lauded for the effect he created through this song and the words are worthy to the hero. It is said this song is visually shot with massive dancers and to bring out the dancing peak of Vijay. This song is certain to create sensations in all the centres.
Velayudham Theme
Playback: Vijay Anthony, Mark
Lyricist: Priyan
For any great movie, there should be a song to instigate the fans and for Vijay fans this song fills the slot. In Gilli, there was a song which forced the elements of nature to fall behind, Arjunan Villu. Similar is the effect got from this song and the notes of rap from the singer Mark are there to bring more charm for the song. Vijay Anthony has made the rendition of this song with all his might. However, the sense of humor can be well noticed for a special effect which will be known only after the movie release. The lyrics from Priyan are real attribute to the hero’s image and this song is all set to move along the audience irrespective of the age group.
Verdict
The songs are tuned keeping Vijay in mind and his fans in the heart. Vijay Anthony has tried his best to satisfy the director, the hero and the listeners. Being a learner from the maestro Ilayaraja, Vijay Anthony is at his best in romantic and solo tunes. His attempts with other kuthu songs and peppy songs too are impoverished from his earlier collections like Aathichhudi, Kodi Parakkuthu.
We should appreciate this album for its unusual tunes and lyrics from the new comers. If you notice the collections in this album it would be too little for boredom and each song is a special in a way. Vijay Anthony is definite to make a great breakthrough this album and this album will make him to the next level of his career. The only flaw will be the less adoptability of instruments since there is a limited scope for this album. Vijay cannot deviate from the adoring tunes of the hero and he faced constraint to snail himself. Despite these hassles, Vijay Anthony gets a great pat from us for bringing this album with excellent song collections.
