Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey Actress Subha Phutela Passed Away

Cute little actress Shubha Phutela aged 21, who debuted in Kollywood with Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey (MPM) has passed away bcos of jaundice

May her soul rest in peace.

Shubha Phutela , the Punjabi lass who is a model primarily is based out of Bangalore. She made her debut with Tamil movie, Maalai Pozhudin Mayakathilaey (MPM) signed the dotted line for Ram's movie earlier this year. However, she had certain health issues because of the pungent chillies she encountered while shooting for some chase scenes in the Guntur Mirchi yard and was advised rest for two months to recover.

As a result of all this, she has now been replaced with Nikitha, a new comer. The movie is being directed by 'Bommarillu' fame Bhaskar and is produced by BVSN Prasad and Ram is playing an action packed role in the movie. Music is being scored by G.V. Prakash.

Its turning out to be a very sad week for the film fraternity. We have just received the news of budding actress Shubha Phutela’s death due to complications arising out of a severe case of jaundice. It is being reported that the actress passed away Yesterday evening.

Shubha Phutela (May 5, 1991 - October 22, 2012) was an Indian film actress and model. She was crowned Hair-o-max Miss South India 2010.[1] She starred in the Tamil film Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey that was released in 2012.

Early Life & Family

Shubha was born in Ludhiana, Punjab to Dr. Rajpal Phutela and Mrs. Santosh Phutela. Her father, Dr. Rajpal Phutela is scientist/professor in the field of Microbiology. Her mother, Santosh Phutela, retired as a teacher. She has an elder sister and a younger brother. Her elder sister is married to an IT professional and is settled in US. Her younger brother is doing his Bachelors degree in engineering.

As a child, Shubha was very homely and studious. In her own words,

After school, she joined Dayananda Sagar College, Bangalore to do her graduation in BE Computer Science. She had an untimely death due to Brain Hemorrhage on October 22, 2012.

Modeling career

Her career in modelling happened by chance. While shopping at the mall, she heard abort a small pageant happening there. Her friends compelled her to join the contest and as fate would have it, she won. From there on, she went on to win other pageants like Miss Cosmos 2007, Miss Youth 2008, Sigma Mall Brand Model Hunt 2008 and finally the big one, Hair-o-max Miss South India 2010.

She has been the face of some of the top brands like Fastrack, Honda City, TVS Scooty, Kingfisher, Britannia, Fly Mobile etc. She has done print ads for various textiles and jewellery brands like Nalli Silks, Rasi Silks, Kalyan Jewellers (Coimbatore), Kannika Parmeshwari Silks etc. She was on the cover page of March 2011 Femina's BUYOLOGY, Bangalore Supplement. Shubha has walked the ramp for designers including Raj Shroff, Michele Salins, Ramesh Dembla, Anu Nagappa etc.

Acting career

Shubha's debut film, Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey released in July 2012. In the film, she played the role of a Muslim girl, Jiya Jaffer. She spent two months learning Tamil for this movie. She also opted out of a Kannada film as the producers of her debut film required exclusive dates. The songs of the movie have been appreciated by the critics and the public alike.
