Madhavan was announced as host of NDTV Imagine's game show Big Money on June 17 at RK Studios, Chembur, Mumbai. Looking dapper in a grey pin striped suit, Madhavan looked charged to handle the show with his signature ease and charming style.
The first episode will air July 10. The question will be answered by the participating family. The winner will walk away with Rs 1 crore.
The 40-year-old South star is not new to game shows. He earlier hosted Tol Mol Ke Bol and Deal Ya No Deal.
Madhavan justifies why more and more actors are seen on the small screen saying:
"TV is a non risky affair for film actors. It doesn't have a great impact on our film career. If it works, it is good. If it doesn't work, that doesn't harm the actor in any way."
Having said that Madhavan feels TV allows him to be himself and connect with his audience, which is otherwise difficult for a film actor:
"I've been in the industry for many years and usually meet people from the industry, there is no contact with the common people. For me, it is an opportunity to reach out to my audience and connect with them."
Madhavan will be next seen in Tanu Weds Manu with co-stars Kangana Ranaut and Shahana Goswami.
Some of the other TV shows recently announced with star power include a new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati with Amitabh Bachchan, Star Plus cooking reality show Masterchef hosted by Akshay Kumar and Colors' Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by Priyanka Chopra.
