Rahman will play at the prestigious Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban

Oscar-winner AR Rahman will lend some star power to the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Indians in South Africa with a three-city tour of his `Jai Ho` concert.

Rahman will also become the first overseas artist to play at the prestigious Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, built especially for the recent FIFA 2010 World Cup. He will also play in Cape Town and at Sun City in November.

"We are proud to be associated with the A R Rahman Jai Ho Concert," said Fathima Hassim, from DStv Indian, which beams a range of Indian channels into South African homes.

"South African fans can expect a fusion of Eastern and Western musical influences that will take Bollywood music into the future with this incredible production", said Sam Hendrikse, CEO of Hunta Live, who is co-hosting the show with DStv Indian.

Rahman embarked on his world tour in June this year and has already taken his theatrical experience to 16 major cities worldwide.

Best known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music, Rahman shot to international fame for his work on the score for the Academy Award-winning film `Slumdog Millionaire`.
