Chennai is going to see a truly international film festival on 8th to 15th Dec
Chennai is going to see a truly international film festival. The 8th Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) will start on December 15th and will continue till December 23rd. Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation with the support of Government of Tamil Nadu, SIFCC and FFI are holding the festival. They are going to organize a red carpet screening for all VIP’s from December 16th to 22nd.

More than 130 films from 43 countries will be screened at three venues Woodlands Theatre, South Indian Film Chamber Preview Theatre and Inox Multiplex.

12 Tamil films will be screened at the festival in the competition sector. which includes “Peranmai", "Angadi theru" and "Nandalala". There will also be an Indian Panorama of 12 films.The opening film at the 8th CIFF will be Soul Kitchen (Germany), directed by Fateh Akin. The hero of the film Birol Unei, will be coming for the festival. The closing film is the critically acclaimed Biutiful (Spain), directed by Alejandro Gonzalez. There will also be a Retrospective of Bernardo Bertolucci.

Awards will be given for Tamil films in five categories- Best Film, 2nd Best Film, Best Director and Special Jury Award. There is also a special 'Film Buff Award' instituted by Moserbaer for the person who watches the most films at the festival.

The organisers present at the press meet included actresses Suhasini, Rohini, Revathy, Kushboo, Lizzy, Poornima, Thangaraj, Manobala, Mohan, Ravi Kottarakara and others.
