The instant case has now become an ‘open’ secret in Kollywood circles and many are ridiculing the ‘Vaigaipuyal’ at his back. Vadivelu, who has a son named Subramani who is in his early twenties, reportedly wanted to introduce his son as hero in Kollywood so that his son’s star status rivals that of well-established stars such as Suriya and Vijay.
More than four months back, Vadivelu got his son admitted to Koothupattarai, an acting school which teaches the nuances of acting and emoting to all its students. For reasons best known to him, Subramani attended the acting classes for hardly a week or so and then discontinued and boycotted the classes altogether.
Subramani is said to have told his father that instead of going to acting school, he would straightaway try his hand at acting in films. More than regretting the lack of interest in his son’s mind to learn the nuances of acting, Vadivelu was more worried about the Rs.4 lakhs he had paid to the acting school.
Vadivelu got in touch with the administrators of Koothupattarai and asked them to ‘return’ back to him the amount of Rs.4 lakhs as his son wasn’t displaying any inclination to attend the classes. Stunned by Vadivelu’s supposedly ‘naïve’ appeal, the administrators told him in clear terms that they were not at fault if Subramani failed to attend his classes.
Whenever he attends the classes, he would be taught what is being taught to the rest of the students and that the question of returning the money doesn’t arise at all, it was conveyed to Vadivelu.
