Shruthi said no to pair with Dhanush

Dhanush has recently announced that his wife, superstar Rajinikanth's elder daughter Aishwarya, will soon make her directorial debut. For the past few months, she has been busy preparing the script. The project will reportedly be announced after Rajinikanth's complete recovery. In her maiden film, Dhanush will be the hero and Shruti Haasan was announced as the female lead.

Gossip mills went into an overdrive when it came to light that Shruti Haasan said no to Rajnikanth’s eldest daughter Aishwarya’s directorial debut citing date problems.

“Everybody in the family was shocked when Shruti Haasan said she doesn’t have dates to spare. All know that Rajnikanth is very close to his daughters and they do nothing without his approval. Moreover, he is also very fond of his son-in-law. Rajnikanth was very upbeat about the casting and he gave his blessings to Asihwarya,” says a source.

A spokesperson also confirmed that Shruti has opted out of the film.

“All I can say right now that Amala Paul (another south heroine) has been approached in Shruti’s place. She is not in the project right now. The film has just gone on the floors,” says the publicist.

Though nobody is talking about it in public but sources say nobody in the family of Rajnikanth expected Shruti to behave this way.

“It’s like saying no to Rajnikanth! Nobody has ever done that. A heroine who has just done a few films till now has never rejected anything coming from the family (Rajnikanth’s family is considered the most influential in Tamil cinema). People are wondering why she did this especially when she knew that the press has already started writing about the movie,” the source adds. Shruti’s move has once again fuelled speculations about Rajinikanth’s rivalry with her father , actor Kamal Haasan even though the claim to be friend off screen.

Shruti, who is not doing any Hindi movie right now, is working for one Tamil film (Murugadoss’ 7 am Arivu) and two Telugu movies Oh My Friend and Gabbar Singh.
