Simbu and Vetri Maaran joins now

Filmdom was rife with rumours that filmmaker Vetri Maaran, who made the award-winning film, Aadukalam, with Dhanush, has roped in Simbu, yet another young star of Tamil cinema for his latest project, titled Vada Chennai (North Chennai).

If Aadukalam had a Madurai milieu, Vetri returns to home base for Vada Chennai, set in North Madras.

He’s been working on the script for the past year. STR plays the protagonist. DC has learnt that there is another star who will be playing a powerful cameo.

When Vetri was asked by this newspaper to clarify, he neither confirmed nor dismissed the rumour.

“I am still in the process of finalising the script. Only after I complete it, can I make a decision about the lead actor. As for as the cameo — yes, there is a powerful role, for which I am planning to approach a few biggies in K’town.”
