Renowned south film actress, Gandhimathi passed away in Chennai this morning, due to sickness. Gandhimathi has suffered cardiac problems from a couple of years which forced her to stop acting in films and confine to television serials.

She passed away at her residence this morning. Gandhimathi has various blockbuster films to her credit, including 'Walter Vetrivel', 'Karakattakaran' and 'Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi'.

Gandhimathi has acted in more than 300 films in Tamil and other southern languages. Her performance in '16 Vayathinilae' was much appreciated by critics. Those from the film industry are paying a visit to her residence to offer their condolence to Gandhimathi's family.
