'Leelai' from April 27 - Sees big release

'Leelai' that's been under the cans from almost two years now is seeing a big release come Friday, April 27. The reason being, the film is produced by Aascar Ravichandran's brother D Ramesh Babu.


'Billa 2's popularity has made Aascar only more powerful than ever in trade and theatres are giving 'Leelai' good screens and shows! 'Billa 2' is slated for a June release but the movie is red hot in trade and is doubtlessly the biggest project this season.


'Leelai' is a romantic comedy directed by Andrew Louis with Shiv Pandit and Manasi Parekh in the lead roles. The film has Suhasini Raju in a pivotal role and has a strong dosage of comedy by Santhanam. Music of 'Leelai' that rocketed the charts is composed by Satish Chakravathy.


It's a light hearted entertainer that's about a mistaken identity among two software professionals, Shiv and Manasi. The trailers and teasers have received good response.

Milky white beauty Tamanna has replaced Genelia in promoting a soft drink brand 'Fanta' in the Southern region.


Till recently, Genelia has been endorsing the brand. SA Chandrasekar was Sacked

Till recently we have been hearing only about the tug of war between the FEFSI and Producers’ Council. But in an unexpected twist yesterday, SA Chandrasekar was removed from the post of President of Producers’ Council and was replaced by Ibrahim Rowther as the interim President. The decision was made by the council in an emergency meeting that was held yesterday.


The Producers’ Council had decided not to attend the FEFSI meeting that was to take place in the presence of Mr. Chella Pandian, Labour Minister. But SA Chandrasekar had attended the meeting against the wish of the council. This seems to be the reason for the removal of SA Chandrasekar from the post. 


We hear that an election for the permanent president of Producers’ Council will be held soon.

Rajinikanth Watched Hollywood Movie Contraband

Superstar Rajinikanth, when he was in London recently to shoot for 'Kochadaiyaan', watched Hollywood movie 'Contraband' along with the cast and crew of his forthcoming film.

'Contraband' is an American action thriller directed by Baltasar Kormakur, starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale. The film is a remake of the 2008 Icelandic film 'Reykjav k-Rotterdam' which had Baltasar Kormakur.

Prasanna: Sneha and I have the same wavelength. She is very devotional. I had the expectation that the girl who becomes my wife should respect my family members. She had that nature. This attitude made us close.


Was there any protest from your family members because both of you belonged to different castes?


Prasanna: Initially both of our family members did not give their consent because of the difference in the castes. I use to go to Sneha’s house to take her outside. Seeing my activities, Sneha’s family members started taking a liking for me. Later on both of our family members gave their consent for our marriage. Sneha and I have encountered lots of bitter experiences. This itself made us understand one and another. This instigated us to get married.


Sneha: Though our family members were against our marriage because of difference of castes, they later on agreed for it.

Sneha: We have selected four countries. Only in the last we will decide that which country it will be.

Kochadaiyaan will hit screens on November 13

Superstar Rajinikanth has announced the release date of 'Kochadaiyaan'. The top actor of Tamil cinema, who is shooting for the film in the United Kingdom, has said that the movie will hit the screens on November 13 this year.


Addressing a media meet in London, he said, "Kochadaiyaan is a fantasy film. It will attract not only children but everyone. It will be of international standards and the film will hit the screens on November 13."


The Superstar was accompanied by his younger daughter Soundarya R Ashwin who is directing the movie, Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman and K S Ravikumar, who is taking care of direction-supervision. "I am happy to act in a film like this," Rajini said.


"For me every film is like the first picture. I am very choosy with the director and producer," he said. On his health condition, the 'Thalaivar' of millions of fans all over the world said, "I am 90 per cent fine now, thanks to the prayers of my fans."

M.Saroja passed away after cardiac arrest at her residence in T.Nagar

Kollywood yesteryear star M.Saroja passed away after cardiac arrest at her residence in T.Nagar, Chennai. She was survived by her husband actor Thangavelu. Both of them starred in more than 50 films before entering into wedlock. Saroja and Thangavelu got married at Murugan Temple in Madurai during the 100th day celebrations of hit film 'Kalyana Parisu'. Both starred as husband and wife in the film. They went on to star in more than 250 films after marriage. Saroja during her hay days used to shoot in 3 shifts a day with top stars like Sivaji Ganesan, MGR and NTR. Hi TIP. I am doing up my living room and want some tips on lighting. I have a false ceiling with lights and cove lighting. What else is needed ?

Lighting is a key aspect of interior design and often underplayed. What you would need to look at is accent lighting. If you already have ambient lighting (the false ceiling) then perhaps you do not need wall lights. What you could do is focus on accent lighting using table lamps and uplighters to highlight certain corners or artwork. Basically there should be a soft cosy feel to the living room. Play of shadow and light and nothing too harsh or overbearing.

Using lamps on side tables, consoles and cabinetry is one option. Another is using an uplighter--correct placement is important.
